Does your Client have a Fuel Storage facility?
Remember much of London’s West End being blacked out for hours back in July 2006? If that happened to your client, do they have a stand-by generator with a fuel tank to substitute the power supply?
Has the fuel been checked recently?
To supply their generator, they will have a storage tank containing diesel fuel or similar. All such fuels deteriorate over time from a number of causes -see web page ‘Why is Fuel Polishing Necessary?’ If the fuel is not cleaned and conditioned regularly it can lead to unexpected breakdown of the generator due to blocked filters or loss of power.
Has the generator ever stopped suddenly?
What would the costs be if it did stop?
Fuel contamination will lead to generator failure. The most common cause is blocked filters caused by the presence of bacterial growth, fungi/algae or water molecules resulting from a build-up of condensation.
Is the generator only tested for 30 minutes or one hour?
What would happen if it had to run for 12 or 24 hours - or even more?
The 2006 power cuts lasted for many hours, and over two days. Are you sure your clients fuel has no contamination present? If there is, the generator will probably fail when the filters get blocked, and keep on failing until the fuel is properly cleaned and conditioned.
The Answer
DFC can ‘polish’ the fuel periodically to keep it in tip-top condition. This will keep the fuel in optimum condition, ready for use when required. Alternatively, you can install your own Fuel Polishing machine to keep your fuel in optimum condition. See the picture below.
We visit site
DFC offer a FREE Test to establish the state of the fuel. If contamination is present, we will propose a programme to clean, condition and ‘polish’ the fuel regularly using our special conditioning machine – see ‘What is Fuel Polishing?’
